What is Microblading?
Microblading is the tattooing of pigment into the upper layers of the skin in hairlike strokes for cosmetic purpose of simulating real, natural looking eyebrows.
What procedures are available?
The procedures available at Eve 'n After are Microblading/shading, Combo brow, eyebrow color/shape correction. Microblading is a technique that utilizes a hand tool to implant pigment one hairstroke at a time for a very natural and realistic appearance. To view my work visit my Photo Gallery.
Does it hurt?
Comfort levels vary for each client depending on their own pain tolerance level. However, unlike tattooing we use topical anesthetics to numb the area of the procedure. These anesthetics have been created by an anesthesiologist specifically for the permanent makeup procedures and are safe to use around the eyes. Most clients experience very little pain, if any!
How long will the pigment last?
Although permanent makeup permanently implants pigments into the skin, unlike tattoo inks it will fade over time. Permanent makeup utilizes specially formulated pigments that are designed for the face area. The use of the wrong pigment could cause undesired effects such as discoloration. Because our pigments will fade over time, a touch up is recommended every couple of years to keep it looking fresh and beautiful. The advantage of the tattoo fading is to have the freedom to reshape the design of your brows to compliment our faces as we age!
What can I expect during the eyebrow tattoo procedure?
Firstly, I will take before photos for my records. (Photographs will not be published without permission from client.) Next, you will have a topical numbing cream or gel applied for approximately 20 minutes. During the numbing process we will discuss and pick a pigment color based on your skin tone, hair color and preference. After the eyebrows have been numbed we will then start the eyebrow design process. We will work together to sketch on a brow shape that will enhance the natural beauty of your face. The tattoo procedure will not begin until you, the client, is happy with the sketched in shape.
We will then begin the actual tattooing at this time. During the procedure you may experience a little bleeding and swelling. To keep the bleeding to a minimum it is advised to avoid aspirin, blood thinners, caffeine, alcohol and some supplements like vitamin E, garlic supplements and fish oils prior to the procedure (A Before and After Care instruction sheet will be provided).
Will my brow hair be removed before the procedure?
No. Only the hair outside the eyebrow shape will be cleaned up in order to enhance the shape of your new brow.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for the procedure?
Yes, it is very important that you prepare the skin and take precautions to minimize bleeding. You will be provided with a before and after care instruction sheet that will explain in detail what you will need to do.
What can I expect during the healing process?
Initially the pigment will appear darker until healed. You may experience flaking, peeling and crustiness the first few days. At the end of the first week you may go through a "ghosting" stage. During this stage your brows may appear too light, however the color usually returns during the second or third week once the skin processes the pigment. Once they heal, the appearance with be lighter and softer than the day of the procedure.
Some minor swelling and tenderness is possible but most clients are comfortable within the day. Ice and Ibuprofen may be used to alleviate these side affects if necessary.
What is the hairstroke method?
Unlike the most common, traditional approach of the "solid" eyebrow, the "hairstroke" method implants permanent, individual hair strokes one at a time for a more realistic look. Where the solid brow can look flat and unnatural in appearance, the hairstroke eyebrow will look more realistic and three dimensional. I specialize in the hairstroke method. Whether you want a soft & natural look or something more dramatic, I will work with you to design your perfect look.
What tool is used to implant the pigment?
Traditional tattoo machines, hand tools and carefully designed machines created specifically for permanent makeup will all get the job done. The tool used depends on the preference of the technician and the procedure being performed.
Can a tattoo artist do Microblading?
Only those specifically trained in permanent makeup should be performing these techniques. Microblading is more than just artistic design and implanting pigment. Knowledge of a client’s face, eye and lip shapes as well as skin tone are crucial in order to design the correct shape and choose the correct pigment color that will enhance their appearance. A poorly shaped brow or eyeliner or incorrect pigment color can have disastrous results!
How much does it cost?
Please refer to the price page for details. When choosing a Microblading technician, their skill and training should be the deciding factor over cost. A Microblading Technician is specifically trained to design eyebrows to enhance the appearance of your face. One’s appearance should only be trusted in the hands of a technician that has been professionally trained in this field through a qualified school. Keep in mind that a solid, tattooed brow line can be a much less expensive procedure but you will never obtain the natural looking eyebrow offered at Eve 'n After!
Is it safe?
All procedures are performed with the safety of the client and technician in mind. Proper sterilization and strict sanitary practices are followed very carefully to avoid cross-contamination. Only sterile, one-time use needles are used with each client. Needles will NEVER be reused! Eve'n After uses top of the line pigments and anesthetics.
Are there any risks involved?
Although uncommon, as with any procedure of this sort there is always a possibility of an adverse or allergic reaction. Patch tests are available for those with any concerns and take 4 weeks to complete. However, these patch tests will not guarantee that an allergy or adverse reaction will not occur.
